House For Two

We often hope that through the passing of time our relationships will stand true. That no matter what challenges befall us, we’ll be able to come through on the other end, hand in hand.

I’ve watched people stay together despite themselves, and spread apart when they ought to fight for each other. Yet I still find it within me to hope beyond hope that my invested love will carry on throughout my life.

This song is a nod towards the unseeable future. A vow to light a beacon in the distance that we can both return to no matter what storms push us apart.

Lyrics:

Say you’ll be mine, wherever this road takes us
When the house is for sale, and the kids are all grown
Say you’ll be mine, I’m not sure if I’ll believe you
But every little bit helps, if it all goes to hell

If suddenly I’m cynical, or critical of you
Thats not the version of me I wanna be
I just wanna show you how my heart has grown

I can build this house for two
I can live this life with you

Say I am yours unconditionally
And we’ll learn what that means
Probably the hard way
So I am yours for better or for worse
We’re scared that things will change,
Or that they’ll always stay the same

I can build this house for two
I can live this life with you

You’re not my mother you’re not my child nor my prize
You’re just a little bit of the good life
All we are is all we dare to be alone
So won’t you call me home

I can build this house for two
I can live this life with you

Daniel Moody in Spitfire Studios

I was recently blessed to be selected by the Alchemy Songwriting Competition to win a trip to LA to record with the talented and gracious Warren Huart in Spitfire Studios. I had a blast and was able to record a few clips while I was there. Here’s a compilation of some of my favorite moments.

The music you hear is me hardly doing justice to John Martyn’s “May You Never”. A track Warren played for me while I was in the studio and I instantly loved. If you’ve never heard it, I highly recommend.

We were recording the song that won the competition “Your Day”, which you can watch the video here https://youtu.be/Ex2bet3XZtc or go to my channel.

Big thanks to Warren, Spitfire Studios and Alchemy Songwriting Competition for the great experience.

Live Album

People have asked me for years where they could find my music. I’ve stubbornly wrestled with my own inhibitions and finally released something. Its raw, its honest, its live, its for you now. I can’t keep it to myself anymore.

The last few years have been bountiful in experience. I’ve written songs as true to the feeling as I could, and there have been many. I began producing videos as an outlet for the music. At the beginning of this new year I find myself with all these honest recordings made sometimes hours after the writing of the songs. I’ve decided to compile a selection and present them to you listen to and hopefully share. Here is my Live Album. https://danielmoody.bandcamp.com/album/live.

Thank You Alchemy Songwriting Competition!

I’m honored to have been chosen as the winner for this year’s Alchemy Songwriting Contest. It was a great experience and for a good cause. All the proceeds from the event went towards Blackbird Academy. They’re making the arts accessible to children and adults with excellent classes and giving them the invaluable opportunity to express themselves.

The grand prize is a trip to LA to record in the studio of Hollywood based music producer, Warren Huart. I look forward to the journey to see old friends and work with such talents.

Many Thanks to Alchemy, Blackbird Academy, all the sponsors who made it possible, and my friends and family who support me. There were incredible talents in the line up, many of whom I look forward to working with in the future. I deeply appreciate the opportunity.

Your Day

Video shot and edited by me, Daniel Moody. Starring the splendiferous Mila Moody.

You’ve got my word I’ll be absurd

At the drop of a hat nothing crazy bout that
You gotta have your fun and be the one
To counter my scowl with a mischievous smile
Do you believe in me,
When you say so honestly
Oh stop you’re grieving
You can have tomorrow but not yesterday
Come on start believing
You don’t have to be so stuck in your ways
Pay attention cus today might be your day
You haven’t a use for a single excuse
How refreshing to speak without stopping to think
I can wear my skin not give a damn if I’m thin
Throw caution to the wind and happy again
What a thing to be
You make it look so easy
Oh stop you’re grieving
You can have tomorrow but not yesterday
Come on start believing
You don’t have to be so stuck in your ways
Pay attention cus today might be your day
Follow, Follow everybody lets go
You’ll end up beside yourself despite yourself
Follow, Come on baby lets go
You’ll end up beside yourself despite yourself
Oh stop you’re grieving
You can have tomorrow but not yesterday
Come on start believing
You don’t have to be so stuck in your ways
Pay attention cus today might be your day
